Description
The Royal Academy of Arts in London had commissioned the design for an exhibition of the most important works of 20th-century Italian art. Lightness, freshness and irony foreshadow ideas that will come to the forefront later on. He organises the spaces of the exhibition as a sequence of rooms introduced by an ironic sequence of portals.
Each room was painted with the colour most congenial to the specific period. The figures of the portals recall the figurative themes of the Italian art of the 20th century, used almost as a game and re-elaborated with sophisticated historical allusions which however never fall into the equivocations of post-modernism.
